Procedure of Making Kaajal

Juice from Bringaraj leaves are extracted by grinding the leaves in traditional pesto mortar. Then the cotton wick is soaked well till the juice is well absorbed. This wick is dried in shade till it becomes super dry. This wick is used to lit the lamp

Brass Lamp is lit with castor oil and almond oil.

After the lamp is lit almond is inserted into a knife and shown directly on the flame
And the smoke is allowed to touch the copper plate.

Later after cooling the powder is collected and stored in a sliver box. Now, this is called the sooth. This powder is further processed to be the humble Kajal 🙂
